Bosch Rexroth Top Adaptor
Clayton Engineering was contracted by Bosch Rexroth to design and manufacture the mechanical interface between an actuating cylinder and a submarine periscope shroud. The mechanical space and weight constraints were well defined and exacting, resulting in a final design that had no scope for error in any respect. The design was subject to a high degree of FE analysis in order to achieve customer acceptance. The environmental and strength requirements dictated that the components were manufactured from cast Nickel Aluminium Bronze. A destructive test of the first off production unit confirmed the strength predicted by the FEA.
