This purpose designed Lifeboat Carriage was developed after an extensive feasibility study. The history of lifeboat launching was researched back to the time of horse drawn launching systems and full account was taken of the huge variation in operating terrain.

A prototype was built by Clayton Engineering and jointly evaluated by the RNLI.

The Company has now produced 29 production carriages that are operated by the RNLI to support the Mersey Class lifeboat, at various locations around the UK.
