Hydraulic Tow Hitch

Description

The Talus MB-4H tractor was equipped with a “Quick Release” tow hook that could be released remotely via a wire linkage, allowing the carriage to be released if the tractor got bogged down.  The release of the hook depended on gravity and if the hook was grounded, the hook would not fall and the tractor would not be able to release the carriage.

An improved hook was developed that is hydraulically operated, and has geometry such that the hook rotates rather than falling, making it very unlikely that the hook will fail to power open.  The hook incorporates features that allow it to be prized open in the event of hydraulic failure.  The operator is able to operate the hook from the seated position as the actuation button is now incorporated into the dash panel of the machine.
